30.05.2018

Philoso F.A.Q. presents a series of 15-minutes discussions on logic and theory of argumentation in two parts.

In the first part Ivan Mikirtumov (PhD, professor, director of the department of logic, St. Petersburg State University) and Dmitry Zaitsev (PhD, professor of the department of logic, Lomonosov Moscow State University) review the most general questions about logic: what is this science about? what is the nature of logical knowledge? what are logical objects? and so on. The discussion is of a particular interest as it reveals the differens between the two main Russian logical schools in their treatment of fundamental issues and teaching methods.

In the second part David Khizanishvili (assistant lecturer of the department of philosophy, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University) proceeds with the discussion with Dmitry Zaitsev about the theory of argumentation, considering its rules, structure and widespread argumentational mistakes.
